North Bay Professional Paramedics Association is gearing up to officially celebrate Emergency Medical Services Week throughout the District of Nipissing from May 18th to 25th, 2008.

Marc Picard, North Bay Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC) Manager says there are many people who come together to provide emergency medical services throughout the district of Nipissing. “This includes the CACC; paramedics from Temagami, West Nipissing, Mattawa and the North Bay and District Ambulance services; the District of Nipissing Maintenance Garage and our administrative support staff,” Picard says.

NBPPA is a proud supporter of many community events including the Lifeline Public Access Defibrillator Program; Act High School CPR Program; Andy the Ambulance Colouring Books; youth sports, including hockey, ringette, soccer, etc; and many charitable donations, including the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Picard says the NBPPA has a safety message for the community this year —help us stay safe. “Pull to the right and stop when an emergency vehicle with lights and siren approaches and ‘move over and pass with caution’ when approaching an emergency vehicle on the side of the road,” he explains.
