At last count (10:30 am Thursday) students had raised $12,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society, just shy of this year’s $15,000 goal.

Event co-chair and teacher Erin Robertson said she was concerned mid week because there were a number of outstanding pledge forms.

“It was chaotic at times for Julie and me as we are fresh to the event,” she explains.

“We had over 450 students with pledge forms, 200 of those students came in with their money this morning, and we gave out over 500 forms.”

“So we are optimistic that we will reach our goal of $15,000.”

“I am glad the sun is shining for all the teachers and students who participated in the event. We had over 500 pledge forms out there so it is great,” says co-chair Julie Lehmann.

“I am proud to carry on this tradition that has been going on for 15 years.”

Grade nine students Michelle Lane, Montana Warbrick and Emily Stuart all ran the course in preparation for another big fundraising event in June and to help make a difference in the lives of people with cancer.

“We decided to run in all the events that are for good causes so we could to train for Patrick 4 Life,” notes Lane.

“I think it is great that our school is getting out in the community and making a difference.”
