South Porcupine OPP Crime Unit officers attended a post-mortem examination of the deceased person who passed away while on a train excursion with a tour group on a Via Rail train early Friday morning. The post-mortem examination was conducted by a coroner at a Sudbury area hospital early morning Saturday May 10th. Based on this examination, it has been determined that the 43 yr old woman died of natural causes. The deceased person has been identified as Brenda BUCKLEY, 43, of South Africa.

Next of kin notifications have been taken care of by the OPP.

Anecdotally, samples taken from 6 other train passengers, who were experiencing varying degrees of medical difficulty, indicate that these persons have been afflicted by a common flu virus.

The train reached its destination in Toronto early Saturday morning after a 9 hour delay in the hamlet of Foleyet, Ontario. (roughly 100 kms west of Timmins).

The rail car in which the woman had expired had remained under OPP control up until the cause of death had been determined to be of a natural origin.

Since foul play and criminal malfeasance have been eliminated as possible root causes, the OPP investigation into this matter is at an end.
