Motorcycle fans from area are set to participate in a poker run the will make a difference in the fight against prostate cancer during the Ride for Dad Saturday, June 14th.

According to the Canadian Cancer Society prostate cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian men.

In 2008, they estimate that 24,700 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 4,300 will die of it. Officials say on average 475 men will be diagnosed every week, and that 83 Canadian men will die of prostate cancer every week.

The North Bay chapter of ‘Ride for Dad’ held their official kick off at North Bay Police Headquarters this week and encourages all riders to take part in a very worthwhile cause.

Riders can register from at 8pm Friday June 13th to 10am Saturday June 14th in the Canadian Tire parking lot. At 10:30am Saturday June 14th riders will assemble in the Canadian Tire parking lot and will parade to the waterfront with a police escort.

Monies raised through the ride will remain here in the community.
