News Release

********************

On Thursday, May 15th, 2008 West Ferris Secondary School will hold their 15th Annual Trojan Parade for Cancer (Rain date May 16th). Our target is to raise $15,000 in our 15th year.

Over the past 14 years the Trojans have raised over $150,000 which has gone directly to assist North Bay and area residents and their families in the fight against cancer.

The Parade for Cancer will begin at West Ferris Secondary School with participants departing at approximately 9:00AM. The Parade will end at the Waterfront Band shell at approximately 10:15AM where the final ceremony will take place.

Many local businesses have donated prizes, which will act as incentives for students who raise significant amounts for the cause. Each year teachers and staff agree to participate in an "Incentive Assembly". Where, if we reach our target, teachers and staff will take part in activities (costumes worn my administrators, silly dances etc).

Students have been collecting money for the cause through pledge forms and other fundraising activities. This Friday, May 9th, 2008 West Ferris will hold a dress down day. If students donate $2 or more to the cause they do not have to wear their uniform for the day.

Donations towards our goal can be dropped off in the Main Office at West Ferris SS.

Our motto this year is "15 Long, 15 Strong"
