Trojans are golden at Northern Ontario Drama Festival

West Ferris Secondary School's Trojan Theatre took home "gold" at the Sears Ontario Regional Drama Festival this past weekend in Kirkland Lake. After receiving the prestigious Outstanding Production award at the District level in North Bay, the extra-curricular club went on to achieve the same award at the regional level. They will now represent all of Northern Ontario, along with a production from Kirkland Lake, at the Ontario Sears Drama Festival in Perth from May 7-9th. Only 12 productions are chosen from over 400 across Ontario to go on to this final level of competition.

Along with the top-honour, the cast and crew received many other awards, including an Award of Excellence in Acting for Jim Watson, an Award of Merit for Acting for both Marina Stackelberg and Lariena Ouellette, an Award of Merit for Sound Design to Garrett Claridge and Outstanding Stage Manager to Josh Bettiol. The director, Allan MacAskill, cast and crew are now working hard to polish their show for the Ontario Showcase in Perth.
