OPP locate body of a missing snowmobiler

IROQUOIS FALLS – The South Porcupine OPP confirms their officers have located the body of a missing snowmobiler who was reported missing on December 10th , 2007 in the Iroquois Falls area.

The body of Matthieu LAFLAMME, 20, of Val Gagne, Ontario, was discovered in the Meadow Creek area, near Iroquois Falls by civilian searchers early yesterday afternoon. The OPP recovered the body. It is being held for a post mortem examination expected to take place early this week.

It is surmised that LAFLAMME left Iroquois Falls on his snowmobile during the late afternoon of December 10th and was expected to make his way back to his Val Gagne residence.

He failed to reach his destination and was reported missing to the OPP by his family.

A comprehensive search of the area had been undertaken in by the OPP, involving OPP canine, Emergency Response Team (ERT) members and OPP snowmobile patrol officers.
Family and friends or the missing man were also actively involved in the initial search.
