News Release

***********************

The reconstruction of Algonquin Avenue from Copeland Street to High Street is set to resume Monday April 14th. The works are anticipated to continue until the Algonquin Ave is reopened in July this summer, at which time Jane and Front Streets will be closed to enable the completion of the project in August. The works will commence at the intersection with Algonquin Avenue and Front / Jane Streets with a second crew starting to remove the “dip” in the road at the past CN Rail Bridge crossing.

Algonquin Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Jane and High Streets as of April 14th. Through traffic on from Jane St to Front St will also be closed for a short duration at the onset of this phase of the construction works, and then again in July and August.

The intersection of Algonquin Avenue at Jane / Front Streets will remain open for the majority of the works this year to minimize traffic interruption. Detours will be established for this phase of works using Murray Street, Copeland Ave, Commercial St, First Ave, Douglas St and High St. Please follow the various detour route signs that will be established. The use of alternate routes to avoid the construction area is also encouraged. It is anticipated that the roads will be fully reopened prior to the start of the September school season. We apologize for the inconveniences the construction works will cause and appreciate your patience and tolerance while we complete these works.
