The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and the Nipissing Resource Forest Management Inc. (NFRM) and the Nipissing Local Citizens Committee would like to remind the public of the upcoming public information centres for the development of the 2009 - 2019 forest management plan for the Nipissing Forest.
We are asking the public to review and comment on the areas identified for harvest, renewal and tending operations, the nature of those operations and the proposed road locations and conditions, for the first five-year term of the plan. We also want the public to review and comment on the areas where harvest, renewal and tending operations are preferred to occur during the second five-year term of the plan, as well as the proposed one kilometre wide corridors for each new primary and branch road which is planned for construction during the ten-year period of the plan.
The opportunity to review proposed operations for the 2009 -2019 forest management plan for the Nipissing Forest begins with the information centres shown, held at the following times and locations:
April 19, 2008 Holiday Inn Express, North Bay 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (15 min. presentation at 11 a.m & 1 p.m)
April 22, 2008 West Nipissing Public Library , Sturgeon Falls 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (15 min. presentation at 5 p.m & 7 p.m)
April 23, 2008 Restoule Community Centre, Restoule 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (15 min. presentation at 5 p.m & 7 p.m)
April 24, 2008 Mattawa Curling Club, Mattawa 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (15 min. presentation at 5 p.m & 7 p.m)
Comments on the proposed operations for the Nipissing Forest must be received by Guylaine Thauvette of the planning team at the MNR North Bay Office, or Mark Lockhart at the NRFM office by June 23, 2008.
