Red Cross seeks caring, committed volunteer Prevention Educators for its RespectED: Violence & Abuse Prevention program. RespectED promotes safe, supportive relationships and healthy communities through education that helps break the cycle of abuse and interpersonal violence.

Prevention Educators deliver presentations and workshops in schools and communities on topics related to abuse, neglect, harassment and relationship violence to both youth and adults who work with youth.

Before being certified, all volunteers are screened and receive in-depth professional training. Prevention Educators must be 18 years of age or older, available during school hours, reliable and should be able to work with youth in a nonjudgmental, accepting way.

RespectED volunteers gain a wealth of experience including knowledge of the many facets of abuse, improved communication and presentation skills and the opportunity to meet interesting people. Most importantly, however, is the satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference in the lives of young people.

The next training is scheduled to begin in April 2008 and all applications must be received no later than March 14, 2008. To receive additional information and application package, call or write to the contact coordinates below.
