Area police officer attacked by dog

Mattawa – At approximately 11:30 p.m. on the 29th of February 2008 an OPP officer was responding to a neighbour dispute in the area of Park Street in the Town of Mattawa.

As the officer was leaving the scene, a medium sized dog that appeared to be a Rottweiler/Boxer mix attacked the officer. The officer discharged his firearm killing the animal.

The officer was treated at the Mattawa General Hospital for a puncture wound and abrasions to the left arm and hand and was released.

The investigation is continuing.
