Wayne O'Shea caught this monster lake trout on Feb 15th, 2008, at 9:40 a.m. while fishing the Broom Island Area with 4 friends. The big trout was 37" long and had a 19" girth. A quick check on a digital scale read18.7 lbs. quickly released, the fish gave a quick kick of its tail to say goodbye.

This fish is now an entry in the Temagami Stewardship Council’s Trophy Live Release Contest. If he is lucky and his entry is drawn, Wayne will win a replica mount of his fish from Advanced Taxidermy in Toronto. More importantly, the large fish returned to Lake Temagami will enhance the lake trout fishery by spawning some 22,440 eggs in the fall of 2008. There is also the possibility that this fish may be caught again in the future providing yet another angler on Lake Temagami with the thrill of a lifetime.
