Duke Street fire causes $100,000 damage

Early reports indicate that a fondue pot and mattress are at the heart of a blaze Thursday at a Duke Street West home. Fire crews responded around 5:30 and quickly knocked down the fire.

Early reports indicate that a fondue pot and mattress are at the heart of a blaze Thursday at a Duke Street West home.

Fire crews responded around 5:30 and quickly knocked down the fire. Reports further indicate that 2 people were in the apartment at the time, with one person suffering minor burns.

Officials peg damages to be in the neighbourhood of $100,000 and that the basement will have to be gutted.
