Health Unit launches new web site

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is pleased to introduce a dynamic new website and web-address located online at www.healthunit.biz.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is pleased to introduce a dynamic new website and web-address located online at www.healthunit.biz. The Health Unit has worked in consultation with Benjamin James Marketing Communications, since last August, to create a new, friendly, easy-to-navigate website. The most unique part of the design element features scenic photographs, submitted by Health Unit staff, showcasing the catchment area served by the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

"In the future we will ask the public to send us photographs for the website showcasing the communities where they live within our Health Unit district. We serve 31 municipalities within our North Bay Parry Sound catchment area and this is one way for everyone to feel connected!” says Wendy Carew, a Public Health Director with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.
Some of the more prominent new features on the website are:

• a prominent Health Alert button and matching scrolling banner to better communicate public health situations when they occur (ie: boil water advisories). These buttons and scrolls are not visible on the website until they are activated because of a situation;

• a Hot Topics button with “topical information of interest” scrolling;

• a Health Unit Survey button, which is concealed when not in use, will contain short surveys being conducted by various programs within the Health Unit, which is the communities’ chance to give us feedback;

• and a Search button, for sourcing out specific information on the website.

The original website was created in March of 2000 as a method of enhancing access to health information, as per the Mandatory Health Programs and Services Guidelines. The new site, at www.healthunit.biz , was produced and designed for Health Unit staff to fully control and maintain in-house.
