Nipissing University welcomes internationally renowned childhood fitness and obesity expert Dr. Mark Tremblay to the Nipissing University Theatre on January 16 at 4:30 p.m. for a presentation titled Childhood Physical Activity: important initiatives, insights and issues.

Tremblay is the Director of Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, as well as the Senior Scientific Advisor on Health Measurement for Statistics Canada. He is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, a Fellow of the North American Association for the Study of Obesity, an Adjunct Professor with the Canadian Research Institute for Social Policy (CRISP), former Dean of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan and is currently the Chair of Active Healthy Kids Canada. Tremblay has published extensively in the areas of childhood obesity, physical activity measurement, exercise physiology and exercise endocrinology.

The presentation is hosted by Nipissing University’s Bachelor of Physical Health and Education program.

Members of the public are welcome. The event is free of charge.
