The power is back on

The West end of the city was left without power for well over 2 hours today due to a downed power line in the Angus Avenue area this afternoon.

Power went down just after 12 p.m. leaving the downtown core, along with pockets from Ann, High, Chippewa, Cassells Streets as well as Mattawa, Harvey and McIntyre Street West areas in the dark for the better part of the afternoon.

Reports indicate that Hydro crews restored the majority of power just after 2 p.m., with the remaining areas back online at dinner time.
