News Release

The power shutdown was a result of grounding wire that was stolen which caused excessive heat to burn insulation wires and send a power surge through the grid. A criminal investigation is ongoing.

Crews have been working around-the-clock to ensure that systems are operational by Monday; however, the institutions ask for patience from students, staff and faculty as there may be some disruption in services while systems are debugged from the power surge that took place.

The institutions want to thank the community partners as well as the Facility and IT crews who have been working diligently to get power and systems restored.

Please refer to the Nipissing University Web site at www.nipissingu.ca or the phone message system at 474-3450 or 474-7600 for updates.
