It was another great meal

Christmas dinner took on a special note today as 60 volunteers served a traditional holiday meal to their neighbours in need.

The dinner, hosted by St. Brice’s Anglican Church, in partnership with the Gathering Place and the Pro Cathedral Church of the Assumption, offered a safe, warm, welcoming place for folks who are alone for the holidays to enjoy a little Christmas cheer. Not to mention the opportunity to offer folks a nice hot meal that may not otherwise have had a dinner.

“We are just thrilled that we were able to have all 3 organisations participate,” says organiser Shirley McKay.

“We served over 180 people this year ... and our business community was very generous with their donations this year.”

Gathering Place Board Member Jim Klein agrees that the business community spared nothing in their donations.

“When we went to pick up donations my wife Kathy noted that the merchants gave the very best they had,” states Klein.

“This is top flight stuff!”

Although Cheryl Brisson received a basket from the Santa Fund coming to the dinner is an annual event for her family.

“You get to socialise with other people who you don’t see all the time,” she says.

“Everyone does a great job, they decorate the hall nice and for everyone else they get a goody bag on the way out ... it’s just real nice.”
