At its inaugural meeting on Tuesday, December 18, 2007, the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board nominated candidates for its Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson roles and identified important focus areas for 2008.

Donald Houle and Jacques Bégin were unanimously appointed as Chair and Vice-Chair respectively.

Mr. Houle thanked his fellow trustees for their expression of confidence in selecting him to serve another term as Chair. “I look forward to the coming year and …I will spare no effort to work with you and with our staff to continue building a system that will provide the best education that we can possibly provide for every child who comes through the doors of our schools.”

The Board's key priorities will continue to be centered around the Ministry of Education's Student Achievement and Success Agenda. Closing the gap in student outcomes, building public confidence and support for Catholic education, and the learning to 18 Initiative were identified as important focus areas for 2008.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board serves over 3400 students in North Bay, West Nipissing, East Ferris, Corbeil, Mattawa, and Powassan within its 13 elementary schools and its secondary school, St. Joseph-Scollard Hall CSS.
