Chair of the North Bay General Hospital Board of Directors, Mr. Alain Perron is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to the Board. “We were delighted with the response to ads placed in local newspapers throughout the district to fill vacancies on our Board,” says Perron. “There was significant community interest in these volunteer positions and we thank those who applied. We believe the recent appointments of Don Curry, Huguette Leacy and Michael Lowe will serve this Board well,” he added.

Past Chair of the Board of Directors of the North Bay and District Hospital Foundation, Curry brings a wide range of experience to the Board. As President and CEO of Young People’s Press and President of Bay Consulting, Curry is involved in the community and informed about most issues in the region. As a former journalist, journalism professor and public relations director, he also brings a strong marketing and communications background to the Board. “I believe it is important to support the community by serving on a board, and I believe I have skills to contribute during this challenging time in health care,” said Curry.

From Astorville, Huguette Leacy brings many years of experience in the health care sector as a nurse, administrator and educator. Following years working as a nurse she served as a nursing instructor at Canadore College and then as executive director of the Mattawa General Hospital. “I believe my work experience has prepared me for the tasks that a Hospital Board is expected to consider and I am confident that I can make a positive contribution,” Leacy added.

The third new member to the NBGH Board is Michael Lowe. An Accountant, fluent in English and French, Lowe currently works as a controller for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay and brings a wealth of financial knowledge to the Board. He is also very involved in the community and contributes as a member on several community boards. “I am looking forward to making a contribution during my term on the Hospital Board, particularly during this exciting time as we await completion of construction of a new facility,” stated Lowe.

The North Bay General Hospital Board of Directors consists of 17 members representing communities served by this hospital and is responsible for the overall direction taken to provide high quality care to patients in North Bay and its surrounding areas.
