Dianne Wissler, former teacher at Chippewa Secondary School, has accepted the position of Aboriginal Education Advisor.

Ms. Wissler, Chapleau Cree First Nation Band member and Minnesota Chippewa Indian Tribe member, has promoted education among her people “for years upon years”.

Dianne has worked as a Native Students’ Cooperative Education Counsellor; Team Leader for the Cooperative Education Program at her school; and Guidance Counsellor. She has worked at Nbisiing Secondary School and for Ontario Native Education Counsellors Association of Ontario. Dianne has also worked for Nipissing University’s Aboriginal Services and Programs and Biidaaban Community Services-Learning.

Dianne will be working with Board Staff to develop a voluntary self-identification policy for First Nation, Inuit or Métis students. She also looks forward to reaching staff with cross-cultural teachings in order to promote Aboriginal student success in education – Miigwech.
