Staff and board members at the North Bay YMCA launched the celebration of Peace Week Monday by presenting Peace Medallions to community activists Joanne Lumsden and 16 year old Chippewa student Katelynn Sirrs, who exemplify what the power of peace can do.

Sirrs' peace message started when she introduced an anti-bullying club at Chippewa.

YMCA officials remind everyone that they have the power to make a difference.

World Peace Week 2007 has a host of events including a free handout of energy efficient light bulbs from Project Porchlight as well as encouraging random acts of kindness.
