The City of North Bay is still looking for a private investor to bring Friday and Saturday night concerts back to the waterfront for Summer in the Park 2008 and they plan to leave the door open for any interested parties.

Councillor Mike Anthony and other councillors said they are happy to see Derrek Shogren return to the position of Chair of the Heritage Committee.

“Last year we put on a great free family event and it was fun and successful. But, I think we missed out on the concert aspect of the festival,” Anthony said.

Councillor Dave Mendicino said, “Last year I just didn’t feel the buzz. Concerts were major part of the weekend; I want to feel that buzz… I am please we are looking at the possibility of running concerts again.”

The City is leaving the private investor offer open to avoid putting the cost for a concert on the tax payer's back.

Any ideas from a private investor can be brought forward, for example, a blues festival, a comedy show, or a rock ‘n’ roll act. Council has stated the door is open and the opportunity is there.
