In a continuation of this week’s domestic violence awareness activities, life size female silhouettes were placed on several streets throughout North Bay overnight. Throughout the day the silhouettes have been defaced with demeaning text.

Domestic violence is much more gruesome then the words on written on the silhouettes, however, the graffiti used is merely symbolic of what victims often hear. The real message, which is also affixed to each cut-out, is ‘Domestic Violence is Disgusting - Stop Domestic Violence.’

In order to stop domestic violence we need to acknowledge it, discuss it and work together to end it. Unfortunately domestic violence is an issue that people often find it easier to turn away from than to confront. The defaced silhouettes are designed to remind people that domestic violence is real and multifaceted.

Domestic violence touches every community. Domestic violence is a crime. The silence ends on November 16th.
