Activities and Celebrations on Friday, November 9th

Corpus Christi:
Ceremony, 10:45 a.m., featuring scripture reading, Choral reading, prayer service.
John XXIII:

Ceremony, 10:50 a.m., led by Grade 5/6 class featuring poetry, Choral readings, music.
Mother St. Bride:

Ceremony, 10:45 a.m., led by Grade 8 class featuring contributions by entire school.
Other activities throughout November including poppy making, poster and poetry contest, historical videos.

Our Lady of Fatima:
Remembrance Day displays in front foyer. Other activities include writing and art contests, discussions and historical videos.

Sacred Heart:
Memorial Service, 11 a.m., featuring Flanders Field and other poetry reading. Other activities include Royal Canadian Legion Poem, Poster and Literary Contest.

St. Alexander:
Ceremony, 9:15 a.m., featuring prayer service, bag pipe performance by Legion members, Veteran guest speaker, choir performance.

St. Francis:
Ceremony, 1:15 p.m., featuring members of the North Bay legion. Other activities include poppy, wreath and poster making, Choral reading, poetry writing, exploring historical significance of Remembrance Day.

St. Hubert:
Ceremony, in the a.m., featuring songs, poetry, drama. Other activities include discussions of why we remember, creative writing, poster contest, historical videos.

St. Joseph:
Ceremony, 10:45 a.m., led by Grade 8 class. Other activities include poetry, language arts, crafts, sharing war memorabilia, writing letters to Veterans.

St. Gregory:
Mass at 11 a.m.. Other activities include poster contest sponsored by the Powassan Legion.

St. Theresa:
Ceremony, 2 p.m., featuring members of the Callander Legion. Other activities include Remembrance Day crafts, making a “class book” on the meaning of the day, poetry, exploring www.legion.ca.

St. Victor:
Ceremony, 9 a.m., featuring choir performance, poetry readings, lighting of candle.

Our Lady of Sorrows:
Service, 10:45 a.m., led by Grade 5/6 class, featuring wreath and poppy placement, scripture reading, prayer service, performance by the Girls Drum Group.

St. Joseph-Scollard Hall:
A visit from SJSH graduate, Corporal Brian Grass of the Canadian Forces Base, Petawawa, who has served in Afghanistan. Presentation 1: 9:00 a.m. Presentation 2: 10:20 a.m.
