The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) at the North Bay and District Hospital is celebrating 10 years of service by hosting a breast screening 12-hour marathon on Monday, October 29th beginning at 8 a.m.

“We are challenging 50 women, 50 years of age or older who have never had a mammogram or have not had a screening in the last year to drop in to the OBSP on Monday and get an examination,” stated Lovie Ferguson, RN and coordinator of the OBSP. “Challenge your family, friends and colleagues, call and make an appointment or drop in to our program for your mammogram and breast screening on the 29th,” added Ferguson.

The Ontario Breast Screening Program is a free service set up 10 years ago in North Bay to help detect breast cancer in women served in the district. Women over 50 do not need a physician referral and can self-refer to the program. Once in the database women are sent reminders of when it is time to return for another check-up.

The OBSP is located on the first floor at the McLaren Site of the North Bay and District Hospital.

Don’t let time and fear stand in your way. Call today, or drop by on October 29th and take the breast screening challenge.
