Understanding world religions presentation at Nipissing University

Nipissing University is pleased to welcome J.W. Windland, the founder of Encounter World Religions Day, to campus for a public presentation on Monday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nipissing University Theatre (F213).

Windland’s presentation is titled To See, To Be, To Do: How World Religions Define God, the Universe and Reality. The concise overview of world religions blends pictures and ancient stories into a dynamic lecture.

The presentation is open to the public and is free of charge.

“This is a terrific opportunity for people to gain a better understanding of the diversity of our community, our nation and our world,” said Dr. Doug Bolger, professor of Sociology and presentation organizer. “For our students in particular, gaining a greater knowledge of the variety of beliefs that exist in our world is of tremendous benefit to their education. This presentation will serve them well in whatever their future holds, teaching, business, law enforcement, anything that entails working with people.”

Windland will also give special presentations to Bolger’s Sociology of Education Classes in the morning on October 22 and 23.

Windland is a comparative mythologist who has more than thirty-five years experience in the study, teaching and first-hand experience of world religions. He is a specialist in interreligious dialogue and in creating comfort across religious and cultural borders. In addition to his academic background in religious studies, he regularly attends mosques, synagogues, gurdwaras, churches and temples as a testimony to his appreciation of world religions. This background gives Windland a perspective that is unique and tangible.
