The North Bay & District Hospital Foundation is responsible for raising millions of dollars in the community to go toward advanced medical research.

In 2004 they raised 1 million dollars for surgical care needs, in addition they have raised half of a million dollars to help purchase and upgrade medical equipment at the North Bay and General Hospital (NBGH).

Volunteer Chair for the Board of Trustees, Gant Schultz and Executive Director of the North Bay and District Hospital Foundation, Loise Krause announced the foundations signature event this year.

The event entitled Run With It, is being held at Lee Park on October 14.

“This event will encourage people to get active for a good cause. For the next few years we will be raising money for cardiac and stroke equipment,” Krause said.

Participants can walk two, five or 10 kilometres and each person who raises 200 dollars will receive a fitness kit.

The winning team will receive the silver bedpan trophy and bragging rights for a year.
Deputy Mayor, Peter Chirico will start the event in a hospital bed but commented, “I will not, however, be wearing a hospital gown.”

If you would like to pre-register or require more information please contact 495-8125 or visit the foundation at 675 Bloem Street.
