Cementation has recently been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers in an annual competition conducted by Mediacorp Canada, a company that specializes in human resource tracking. This is the second year in a row that Cementation has been highlighted on the list.

Mediacorp reviewed close to 72,000 employers across Canada for the 2008 list, using eight key areas: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Cementation was short-listed and eventually named to the Top 100 Employers in Canada list, a huge acknowledgment in an open-ended competition, and a testament to the hard work that Cementation does.

“Our employees are very important to us and they work hard all year and are the reason for our company’s success. Whenever we have an opportunity we like to do something special for them, like our summer party with Sass Jordan.” Cementation Director and President Roy Slack said.

It is Cementation’s goal to fundamentally change the way mine contracting is carried out within the industry for the benefit of all their stakeholders. Through excellence in safety, performance beyond all expectations, and building long term relationships based on a "best for project" philosophy they aim to earn the distinction of being the mining contractor of choice of both clients and employees.

Cementation has fulfilled their mandate and seen a number of safety milestones over the past year, which no doubt contributed to their placement on the Top 100 Employers list. They have also continued to experience unprecedented growth and success, recently passing the 1,000 employee milestone, and have continued to cement their status as a true leader in the mining industry.

“A company is only as good as the people working for them and once again, we are honoured to have made this prestigious list which is a testament to the people that make up the Cementation team,” Slack said.

An article on the Top 100 Employers will be featured in the October 15, 2007, issue of Maclean’s magazine.
