Motor vehicle collision leaves OPP Officer in hospital

North Bay - On 04 October 2007 at approximately 10:45 P.M. the Ontario Provincial Police, Powassan Fire Department and Ambulance Service responded to a two vehicle collision occurred on Hwy. 11 at Main Street, Powassan.

An Ontario Provincial Police vehicle was north bound on Hwy #11 and collided with a west bound vehicle entering Hwy #11 from Main Street, Powassan.

The driver of the cruiser was Constable Darryl LEIGH, of the Powassan Detachment. Constable LEIGH was transported to Sudbury with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car Wendy AULTMAN, Age 30 of Callander was treated at North Bay General Hospital and released.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of Technical Traffic Collision Investigators and the Forensic Identification Unit.
