Councillor's seat in question

Reports indicate that City Councillor Maureen Boldt was convicted of violating her court order to stop illegally practicing law.
Reports indicate that City Councillor Maureen Boldt was convicted of violating her court order to stop illegally practicing law.

As of October 15th Boldt will begin to serve a four month house arrest, which only permits the councillor to leave her house for doctor's appointments, religious services, and statutory holidays.

Based on the sentence the councillor’s seat is in question as the rules state if a city councillor misses three successive months without permission by resolution of the council the seat becomes vacant.

The understanding is that Boldt is not automatically disqualified from serving on council, however in order to continue she will need council's approval to miss more the 4 months.

Deadline for that decision is January 15th.

If the seat is vacant Tanya Vrebosch who placed 11th with 6041 (5.41%) votes in the last municipal election could be appointed to the seat.
