Charges laid in homicide investigation

FORT SEVERN - A man has been charged in connection with the Murder of a 17-year-old Fort Severn First Nation youth and the Attempt Murder of a 21-year-old man from the same community.

In the early hours of Saturday, September 29, 2007, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service was called out to a disturbance in the community. Upon arrival at the scene, two males were found lying on the ground outside a local residence suffering from serious life threatening injuries. Both males were transported to the Fort Severn Nursing station where the 17-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries. The 21-year-old victim was flown to Winnipeg Health Science Centre for further treatment.

Charged with Second Degree Murder and Attempt Murder is Glenn Harvey THOMAS, 40, of Fort Severn, Ontario. The accused is to appear in Kenora Provincial Court today, October 1, 2007 where he will be remanded into custody for a first appearance date.

The ongoing investigation is under the direction of Detective Inspector Guy Faucher, Ontario Provincial Police – Criminal Investigation Branch.
