Local schools in the area reached a fever pitch this morning as the Stanley Cup, NHL alumni and NHL players paid them a visit.

The cup was received at West Ferris Secondary, Tweedsmuir and Sunset Park elementary schools, while NHL alumnus Jeff Odgers and Thrashers player Pascall Dupuis chatted with the students at Chippewa Secondary and Centennial public schools.

One Chippewa student posed the question why two Canadian teams weren’t squaring off at the Gardens.

Odgers explained that scheduling has a lot to do with which team plays where during the exhibition season and it turned out that Atlanta and New York were the teams to come to the Bay. The general questions were also posed.

“There are always two questions that I get asked,” he tells the kids.

“How much money do you make and how many times has my nose been broken.”

Of course one young lady was brave enough to ask Dupuis if he was married, and he replied yes ... happily with children
