Brown named Education Officer

The Near North District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Brown as Education Officer. Mr. Brown has held administrator roles in three of the five secondary schools in this English public school board. Most recently he was the principal at Widdifield Secondary School. He will provide supervision to all secondary schools and a number of elementary schools. In addition his portfolio will include Special Education, Information Technology, New Teacher Induction Program, and Student Senate.

Mr. Brown has a Master of Education degree in Education Technology and a Bachelor of Education degree with qualifications in Biology, Physics, Computer Sciences and Physical Education. He holds a B. Sc. in Kinesiology and is a high school graduate of West Ferris Secondary School.

Kelly has an avid interest in sports and outdoor education. He is a father of three daughters, two of which have graduated from the Near North public school system and one who is attending the French Immersion program at Laurentian Public School.

Mr. Brown is looking forward to working with everyone in our educational community to create successful pathways for our students.

Kelly Brown replaces Heli Vail, who was appointed Director of Education on August 31, 2007. He will be sharing program and school supervision duties with Patrick Bocking.

The Near North District School Board will be working together with a strong administrative team to make a significant difference in the lives and achievement of our students.”
