News Release

'Notes from Home' is a memory book that is circulating across Canada to provide Canadian Forces' members and others the opportunity to write small greetings to our Canadian soldiers and civilians serving abroad and it will be at 22Wing/CFB North Bay the 8 September 2007 for singing at the base gym.

The project originated with Master Corporal Renay Groves, who is currently stationed in Ottawa. After having been approached regularly by Canadians expressing their support for the military, MCpl Groves came up with the idea of a memory book as a means for Canadians to write their personal notes of appreciation to CF members serving overseas. The book has been signed by Gen. Rick Hillier, the Chief of Defence Staff, who wholeheartedly supports this venture.

Following a cross-Canada tour, Master Corporal Groves will take the 'Notes from Home' collection to Afghanistan where Canadian soldiers will have an opportunity to read the comments. Eventually, the book will be returned to Canada and be placed in the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.

The book will be available for viewing and signed at 22 Wing/CFB North Bay at the Base Gymnasium September 8, 2007, 9h-12h.
