1. Current Situation

There were 7 new fires confirmed yesterday in the province. Fires occurred in the Kenora(2), North Bay(1), Parry Sound(1) and Sudbury(3) districts. Parry Sound 58 required aggressive air and ground attack. The fire is 13 ha in size and fire crews have this fire contained. No further control problems are anticipated with these fires.

Some precipitation occurred across northern portions of the EFR overnight. The hazard continues to build in southern portions of the WFR and along the north shore of Lake Huron.

Ontario will be supporting the British Columbia forest protection service by providing 80 FireRangers and 2 Agency Reps. They will be departing for Kelowna on Sunday.


Ongoing Fires

37 fires are currently burning in the province – 3 of these fires are listed as not under control and 21 are being monitored. No significant control problems are expected with current fires.
