Jeff Hutcheson to play in 5th annual Charity Golf Classic

The fifth annual Charity Golf Classic to support construction of the new Mattawa Hospital will take place on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Mattawa Golf & Ski Resort, with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. The event attracts over 80 golfers from far and wide. This year’s celebrity guests will be the brilliant Jeff Hutcheson from CTV’s Canada A.M., accompanied by North Bay’s own Scott Clark.

Mattawa General Hospital was established by the Sisters of Charity in 1878. The Hospital is a bilingual, primary and secondary care facility serving approximately 5000 residents of Mattawa and surrounding townships. The existing hospital is currently in a prefabricated temporary building constructed after a fire in 1966. Construction of the new hospital is well underway and is expected to open in the summer of 2008.

Far exceeding the most optimistic expectations, the previous Golf Classics have raised a total of $150,000.00. Special thanks are due to our returning Gold Sponsor, Brian Fitzmaurice of CEDA Reactor, joined this year as a Gold Sponsor by Bondfield Construction of Concord, Ontario. Sincere thanks as well to our Silver and Bronze Sponsors, along with the too numerous to name prize and auction gift contributors, and of course, our fun-loving golfers! Jeff Mancini (CPGA Professional and Director of Golf at North Bay Golf & Country Club), and his assistants will ensure that the golf day will be an enjoyable and memorable experience for the players.

Adding to the uniqueness of this event is the FUNky boat cruise the night prior to the golf day. Our golfers and sponsors board a flotilla of pontoon boats to cruise Lake Champlain to L’Auberge des Pionners for a reception, and then return to a spectacular Barbecue.
