For the second time in less than two months employees and patrons of Northgate Shopping Centre found themselves out on the street.

A bomb threat was received at Wal-Mart around 9:30am today followed by a quick evacuation of the premises.

“I was with my friend entering Wal-Mart. My girlfriend works at Wal-Mart, when over the PA system they said 'CODE BLUE,' not knowing what this was, my friend said that is a 'Bomb Threat' and we had to get out as soon as possible,” Joanne Logan advises BayToday.

“People left their carts, and merchandise where they stood and exited the building into the rain. The customers stood outside, and all the Wal-Mart staff was directed to an area for a name call.”

Logan says absolutely no one was allowed to enter the Wal-Mart parking lot and after a short time, they were directed over to the Independent Grocery store.

North Bay Police Service responded to the call and following a search of the premises, shortly after 11am they gave the all was clear. Employees headed back to work and the centre returned to business as usual.
