The MNR released the following update below for the East Fire Region for Monday July 3rd.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• 4 new; 9 active fires
• 239 fires; 2839.5 hectares to date since Apr.1st

DETAILS:

There have been 4 new fires in the last 24 hours:

Parry Sound 19 – a 0.2 hectare lightning fire that is being held, west of White Lake

Parry Sound 20 – a 0.5 hectare fire that is under control, west of Naiscoutaing along Georgian Bay

Sudbury 66 – a 1.5 hectare fire that is being held, in French River Provincial Park

Sudbury 67 – a 0.3 hectare fire that is under control, west of Barlow Lake, southeast of Nepawassi Lake
Active fires include:

Cochrane 20 & 22 – lightning fires west of Fort Albany

Sault Ste Marie 21 – a 2.0 hectare lightning fire that is under control

Algonquin Park 2 – 3.8 hectare fire that is under control

Sudbury 65 – a 0.1 hectare fire that is under control

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations. Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
