Reports indicate that a group of concerned city residents has organized a public memorial service for the baby abandoned in a plastic bag on a city trail of Minto Street for today.

The service will take place at Laurentian Public School at 4 p.m., and then move to the trail for a moment of silence and as a tribute to the full-term baby; folks are also encouraged to bring a blue rose as a tribute.

The eight-pound and four-ounce baby boy found on the trail wrapped in an orange towel in a plastic bag by two teenage boys on March 30.

North Bay Police Service canvassed the neighborhood for weeks talking to over 600 people and finally identified the mother through DNA analysis.

Tabitha Etches, 25, of Robarts Street in North Bay was arrested June 8th and charged with Infanticide and Neglect in Obtaining Assistance in Childbirth.

Both charges carry a maximum five-year sentence.

Etches' is due back in court on July 31.
