Grade 7 students at Centennial Public School jumped on the city’s blue bag bandwagon this week by unveiling their reusable shopping bags at Dollar’s Your Independent Grocer.

Grade 7 students at Centennial Public School jumped on the city’s blue bag bandwagon this week by unveiling their reusable shopping bags at Dollar’s Your Independent Grocer.

Councillor Chris Mayne and Brian Dollar were on hand to support the students as they urged people to reconsider using plastic bags.

The students handed out flyers detailing why they have joined the campaign and explaining why they think plastic bags are bad for the environment.

“Plastic bags are bad for the environment and for the animals that chew on them,” state the students.

“Plus our bags can be re-used and be used for different things.”

Proceeds from the sale of the bags go towards the school’s Green Earth Projects.
