The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) requires volunteers to assist with cleaning up, pruning and general maintenance of the Mattawa Island Conservation Area this Saturday, June 23rd. The cleanup will be held between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The NBMCA will also provide a brief public information session on identifying poison ivy and how to stay itch-free this summer.

“The Mattawa Island Conservation Area offers a great deal of recreational opportunities for both residents and visitors. This event will help ensure the beach, tennis courts and picnic areas are ready for the summer” says Troy Storms, Field Operations Supervisor of the North Bay - Mattawa Conservation Authority.

All equipment such as hand tools, work gloves, safety glasses and needed materials will be provided, as well as snacks and refreshments. Interested individuals can contact the NBMCA at (705) 474-5420 or visit www.nbmca.on.ca for more information.

The North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority (NBMCA) was founded in 1972 by the Province of Ontario and the NBMCA’s 10 member municipalities. A non-profit organization, the NBMCA works closely with the public to ensure the environmental health of the region’s watershed. The NBMCA is one of 36 Conservation Authorities who are members of Conservation Ontario.
