North Bay - Laundry workers and hundreds of their supporters will rally to "keep jobs local" at the Nipissing Area Joint Hospitals Laundry service on Monday, June 18, in a show-down over provincial health services restructuring.

Their target? Liberal MPP Monique Smith (Nipissing), the only politician in a position to do the right thing and preserve local jobs in North Bay.

WHAT:

Keep Jobs Local! Rally organized by the
Keep Jobs Local! Coalition

WHO:

Sid Ryan, President, CUPE Ontario
Michael Hurley, 1st Vice-President, CUPE Ontario
Audrey Dwinnell, President, CUPE 4384
Wyman MacKinnon, Northern Representative
CUPE Ontario Executive Board
CUPE members from North Bay and across Ontario

WHEN:

Monday, June 18 at 2:00 p.m.

WHERE:

Liberal MPP Monique Smith's office
165 Main Street East, North Bay

Twenty-six laundry workers with CUPE 4384 in North Bay are slated to lose their jobs because local health services providers have decided to close up shop and truck dirty linen down the road to Sudbury.

Moves like this prove there's nothing local about how health services will be re-aligned, merged and transferred under the Liberal government's Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) restructuring.
