HIGHLIGHTS:
• 5 new; 8 active fires
• 196 fires; 2788.3 hectares to date since Apr.1st

DETAILS:

There have been 5 new fires in the last 24 hours:
Cochrane 21 – a 0.4 hectare fire that is not yet under control

Wawa 19 – a 1.5 hectare fire that is being held

North Bay 18 and 19 – each 0.1 hectare fires that are under control east of North Bay near HWY 533

Parry Sound 15 – a 0.7 hectare fire northwest of Parry Sound that is under control

The fire hazard is on the rise in the East Fire Region, and the Ministry of Natural Resources is urging extreme caution with outdoor fires. Please make sure to never leave your fire unattended and to ensure it is completely extinguished before leaving.

Sunny and dry conditions are forecast for most of the East Fire Region, with relative humidity values into the 20-30% range by early afternoon. The winds will be light to moderate and the temperatures will remain well above normal.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations.
