News Release

********************

The North East LHIN is hosting a forum for more than 100 Board Chairs and invited guests from the health services
sector across Northeastern Ontario who will gather for the first time in North Bay to talk about health care governance within the Province’s newly transformed system.
Participants will discuss:

• The new stewardship role for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC);

• The role and mandate of the North East LHIN;

• The role of Health Service Providers and Accountability Agreements; and

• The role of the NE LHIN’s proposed governance forums in establishing integrated health service plan priorities.

Guest speakers Hugh McLeod, ADM, MOHLTC and Dr. Roger Strasser, Founding Dean, Northern Ontario School of Medicine will provide insightful presentations
on issues having an impact on the delivery of health care within the region including: a new stewardship role for the MOHLTC, health challenges and opportunities as
documented by the World Health Organization, and how to build a culture of collaborative governance.

The Forum runs from 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday and from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on Saturday.

The NE LHIN is headquartered in North Bay with Board members located across North East Ontario. Board members and staff work closely with health service providers, consumers and their families to identify best practices in health care delivery and to integrate these practices into a model that will improve health care services for the people of Northeastern Ontario.
