Giroux acclaimed NDP candidate for Nipissing

Local labour activist Henri Giroux was acclaimed as the Nipissing NDP candidate for the upcoming provincial election Saturday afternoon.

Giroux, nominated by former candidate Terry O’Conner, says he has big shoes to fill as the candidate to follow O’Conner and represent the NDP, but at the same time says he has the desire to win the riding.

“This party has policies of true value to me,” he tells the dozen people who turned out for the meeting at the OPSEU Union Hall on Fraser Street.

Giroux, a father of five and former resident of Corbeil, says he is prepared to take on Conservative candidate Bill Vrebosch, and sent a warning to Liberal candidate Monique Smith.

“We may have lost the battle of the Joint Hospital Laundry … but the battle for your seat has just begun.”

Election Day is October 10th.
