Phone service down in East Ferris (update)

Approximately three dozen phone customers are still without residential phone service in East Ferris. The outages are sporadic, so your neighbour may have service when you don’t. Repairs are continuing. Bell representatives advise that the parts required to fix the problem are enroute from Toronto and anticipate restoration of all lines today.

The Township office is no longer set up as a point of emergency contact.

Residents who are without residential phone service should check with their neighbours to see if their phone is operational and/or use cellular phones in an emergency

Persons who remain without phone service needing emergency services are now to attend the Corbeil Municipal offices for assistance.

The Municipal office is located at 390 –94 Highway Corbeil Ontario.

As of 10:15 pm, most of the phone service to East

Ferris Twp has been restored. Approximately 177 homes in the Astorville area remain without service. For this reason emergency personnel will be maintained at the Astorville Fire Hall only. The contact number remains the same.

The OPP would like to advise the residents of East Ferris Twp that there is a phone outage at this time.

For residents affected in East Ferris area that need assistance please attend at one of the East Ferris Fire Stations either in Corbeil or Astorville which have emergency service personnel standing by.

A contact number for the East Ferris Fire Station is 752-3322 as cell phones may work.
