The MNR released the following update below for the East Fire Region for June 1st.

HIGHLIGHTS:

• Halfway Lake Provincial Park remains closed until further notice

• 6 new; 10 active fires

• 176 fires; 2674.9 hectares to date since Apr.1st

DETAILS:

There have been 6 new fires confirmed since yesterday afternoon; Pembroke 6 and 7, and Sudbury 53, 54, 55 and 56. Pembroke 6 has since been called out. All of the new fires are not yet under control except for Sudbury 53, which is being held. There are no problems anticipated with the new starts, which are all 0.5 hectares in size or less.

The weather forecast for today, for the majority of the East Fire Region, is calling for unstable conditions; mix of sun, clouds, and thundershowers. Parts of the East Fire Region will also continue to see above seasonal temperatures.

The Ministry of Natural Resources reminds the public that before burning please check with your municipality to be advised of their burning regulations.

Please use caution with outdoor fires. Never leave your fire unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving.
