Woman assaulted; suffers severe injuries (updated)

The North Bay Police Service would like to add information on the previously reported severe assault this morning.

After having examined the scene and having a full view of the injuries, the investigator Det. Cst. Denis Levasseur with our Service has now charged Erol ARTAN with Attempted Murder rather than Aggravated Assault. He remains in custody.

The victim remains in stable condition in the Critical Care Unit of the North Bay Hospital.

On the 24th of May at approximately 6:30 AM Cst. Stacy Jackson of the North Bay Police Service received a 911 call in regards to an assault in progress within a North Bay residence.

The officer arrived and forced his way into the room where it is alleged that a man was still beating a woman.

He was arrested and brought to the station.

This female was brought to Hospital by ambulance and suffered severe injuries, including a slashed throat, lacerations to arms & face too numerous to list at the time of the alleged incident. She remains in the Critical Care Unit of the hospital.

Erol ARTAN 36 years old of Worthington St. E. is charged with Aggravated Assault and remains in custody.
