Forest fire forces OPP to close old Hwy 67

South Porcupine - The South Porcupine OPP have closed Municipal Road (formerly known as Hwy 67), east of Timmins, until further notice. Motorists are advised to use Hwy 101 east to Hwy 11 as an alternate route for the time being.

The highway closure stems from the presence of an active forest fire in the Barber’s Bay area. Kettle Lakes Provincial Park has been evacuated as a security measure.

The South Porcupine OPP is working in conjunction with the local MNR to assess the progress of fire and any need for further evacuation.
